I bought the outlander and I'd like to refresh the map's files.
-I downloaded the "Mitsubishi MMCS map 2010A M190"
-unmounted the HDD as described.
-Put it in the laptop (Dell Latitude D510) as primary, no another HDD or card attached.
-Boot from CD with the XBoxHDM boot disk
-After beginning of the booting a security screen comes up: "Dell INC. Hard-Disk #**77K3TWDMT-595B, the system primary HDD, is protected by a password authentication system. You cannot access data on this hard drive without the correct password. Please type in the password the press ENTER"
-If I type, (- I think it's normal - don't see any characters. -the keyboard is OK- It's not a hardware failure.) The password given, then Enter key. "WRONG PASSWORD" Two more time (wrong pass), then this screen disappear. But this is not a solution...

-If I bypass this described "password srcreen" --happens after 6 empty ENTER or 3 wrong password given, then IsoLinux booting starting and after selecting Locking/Unlocking (3rd) menu option then I got:
root@box-HDM:/1
after unlockhd -p B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEBAB2DFB19E8996 DFAA8C9A8DDFDF +<ENTER>
- Then the message: "No drive found on Primary Master! Shutdown, attach drive and try again..."
As I think the HDD must be seen for the system from the beginning of the booting. If wrong pass is given, it's not attached to the system. If I check it in the BIOS Setup, no primary HDD is detected.
(As I wrote, the disk is OK, and the system see that it's protected and has be to be unlock.)

-Does anybody know the HDD password?

The HDD is OK, if I put back into the car, it works fine.

I tried all combinations of these passwords:
- b2bab3bcb0dfacbeb1bbbedfb1add2cdc9cebab2dfb19e8996 dfaa8c9a8ddfdf
- b2bab3bcb0dfacbeb1bbbedfb1add2cdc9cebab2dfb19e8996 dfaa8c9a8ddfdf
- B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEBAB2DFB19E8996 DFAA8C9A8DDFDF
- B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEBAB2DFB19E8996 DFAA8C9A8DDFDF

first these then which are for the UM theoretically too

- b2bab3bcb0dfacbeb1bbbedfb1add2cdc9ceaab2dfb19e8996 dfaa8c9a8ddfdf
- b2bab3bcb0dfacbeb1bbbedfb1add2cdc9ceaab2dfb19e8996 dfaa8c9a8ddfdf
- B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEAAB2DFB19E8996 DFAA8C9A8DDFDF
- B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEAAB2DFB19E8996 DFAA8C9A8DDFDF

and:

-EMCL OASDN ARN2-16MUN va isUre
-MELCO SANDA NR-261UM Navi User

The system:
Loader-BLD-NR-261EM 1.09
Application 00.31.06
Navisub micro 00.30.00 089004
Map Data M110/AEU_07_200701B
HDD: Toshiba MK3029GAC HDD2198 R ZK04 T

PLEASE HELP.
Try to use another PC, I have Panasonic CF-29 and it works, but BIOS of my desktop PC for ex doesn't recognize passworded HDD and stoping boot procedure, another laptop is not working as well too.

Passwords:
-EMCL OASDN ARN2-16MUN va isUre
-MELCO SANDA NR-261UM Navi User
are for UM units !!!!

Try to type:
EMCL OASDN ARN2-16MEN va isUre
MELCO SANDA NR-261EM Navi User
or the same with two spaces at the end,
I think it should be 32 characters and DF DF looks like just two spaces

Right command with password for EM units is:
unlockhd -p B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEBAB2DFB19E8996DFAA8C9A8DDFDF
My tutorial here: (sorry I'm Pole and it's polish but maybe some links can be usefully) Mmcs mitsubishi - polish:Elite:board

Success !!!

Hi CEKA,
I had the same problem.
The solution that worked for me was to start the laptop without the MMCS HHD attached and connect it immediately after the bios has loaded.
Hotswapping carries some risk of damaging the HHD but I have done it many times with no problem.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks to WiValdiBB and wiseowl for trying to help me,

if I try start without hdd in the laptop, it writes after loading the BIOS: "Internal HDD error F1 to continue." (There is no option to solve it in BIOS setup)
then F1
after booting with the No3,
unlockhd -p etc. the same as before:
"No drive found on Primary Master! Shutdown, attach drive and try again..."
If I hotswap the HDD at the end of loading the BIOS immediately appear the input hdd password screen as before.

to Wivaldi: I tried the password combinations without success

NEW:
Success of the unlocking with my Desktop
Now I got the new M190 map.
Thank you guys!!!
I almost forgot: B2BAB3BCB0DFACBEB1BBBEDFB1ADD2CDC9CEBAB2DFB19E8996DFAA8C9A8DDFDF without space between two parts!
Thanks WivaldiBB

In basic terms is the procedure for updating the maps on the EU MMCS units with EU maps as simple connecting and accessing the HDD on another platform and replacing the map files?

Yes. 1.Unlock. 2. Normal boot (Win... , mcss hdd as secondary master or in case of using a laptop Win boot from CD) 3. MAKE A SAFE COPY! 4. just overwrite the map files on the unlocked hdd only on the partition which contain the map files 5. hdd back to the car 6. enjoy

Ahh so is the unlocking done to only allow access to the drive data from windows PCs or is it very required to unlock the drive to also use updated maps.

In other words, if you "could" access the drive folders and upload new maps without unlocking the drive would the new maps work without unlocking the drive.

I know all this has been covered in great detail in this topic but its so dam long, i cannot grasp if certain parts are really required or are just to make the process easier.

Talking Map update

I just took the HDD out, put it into an old Dell Inspiron 5000e, booted from Linux/Xbox-CD and ran the "unlockhd -p" command with the key for my 261EM-version. WORKED LIKE A DREAM!!

I then took my 2,5" - 3,5" IDE adapter which I bought for 5.50 euro, attached the disk to my desktop computer and copied all new map-files to the disk. Put the disk back in my car, and now I have new navigation maps...

THANK YOU ALL GUYS FOR THE HELP! GREAT WORK!!! :-)
