hub centric/lug centric problem
The stock lug nuts have a slight acorn in them as you mentioned, it's for the doughnut under the trunk. Otherwise you'd be stuck at the side of the road with 5 lugs that are useless on a steel wheel.
I just bought a set of Michelin Latitude X-Ice winters on 16" steel wheels in November. I'm assuming the Active Green and Ross gave me multifit lug centric wheels - but I had them figure out the sizing based on the vehicle. New acorn nuts cost me $40 and a second trip back because the tech saw the stock nuts with a slight acorn and used them. I didn't like the looks of them. When I cleaned up the stock nuts the black paint from the wheel is right near the edge of the acorn!
I have no issues with vibration - remember these are winter tires, expect more noise and maybe a "chunky" feeling. I find the X-Ice are fine until I get past 80km/h then the road noise picks up more.
I'd take your vehicle back to Kal tire tell them you're experiencing vibration while driving - have them figure it out. Maybe you threw a wheel weight?
What risks am I possibly running by having lug centric wheels on the vehicle?
By the way - now is a great time to clean your alloys with soap and water, then use some WD40 on the really stubborn stuff (in my case tar I think). Then toss on a coat of good wax or paint sealant. I'm trying NTX Tech Wax 2.0 paste.
