Talking I just bought a 2009 off the lot!

Should I change the oil right now? It had 88 miles on it but sat on the Arizona Dealer lot for months at least.

Also, I've been a Pennzoil man for years and this being my first Mitsubishi wonder what works best in the 2.4 MIVEC 4B12.

230 miles now and I am very pleased with my "Outie". I got the Labrador Black/Black cloth with a convenience package. $21.6K OTD with the alarm so don't even think about jacking it.

I'm in the Phoenix area and I have the same engine as your 2009 in my 08 ES. My dealer uses Pennzoil 10W30. With the heat here, I expect most dealers use 10W30 rather than 5W20.

I think you will be pleased with the 2.4L engine. We have taken our ES on several trips and the engine has plenty of power.

I don't know if using that weight oil would VOID your warranty. But if the dealer does it they must be backing it. I myself think 5-20 is pretty thin. I had a 2.4 in my in my 17 year old can and loved it. I test drove the Outlander with the 2.4 and the 3.0. In my opinion the 2.4 wasn't enough motor for the Outlander. I based my opinion on merging onto the express way. Not enough zip when accelerating. Otherwise I was comfortable with 2.4 in neighborhood traffic.
Just my 2 cents.
