Too bad the turbo is designed to self destruct on the VW 2.0L TDi and as a result of that any fuel economy gains will be offset by an expensive bill to replace it.
I am guessing this is imperial MPG not US MPG. So that is about 6 L/100km. I get 7.6 L/100km easily on my V6 Outlander on long roadtrips. Not really much of a savings IMO, especially since diesel is more expensive here and hard to find. Not to mention the cost of turbo engine maintainance/shorter lifespan also costs more in total. You would probably have to have a higher MPG to make it worthwhile buying a diesel here.

have heard the VW 2.0 lump is the most reliable out of it and the 2.2 french unit, and the way i drive i wont be thrashing it so hopefully the Turbo will survive
