Default l/100km or mpg consumption at startup??

Hey all,

I have a 2009 4wd 3.0V6 outlander that has been getting pretty bad gas mileage lately.

To recap, in the winter, got a PO300 code out of the blue (random misfire code). Dealer reset it and reset the transmission memory. Ever since then - bad mileage. Also smell of gas at startup. However, I was told that that can happen when cold out.

It is now 24 degrees celcius and am still getting smell of gas at startup and happened to notice that when started from being off overnight, I am getting around 88L/100km consumed as a first reading after startup....

Now obviously it is going to be higer at that point, but does that seem too high? Can someone the next time they start their car in the morning, just switch it to conmusption mode and tell me the first figure they see?

Thanks,
Dave

20 Celsius, yesterday, light rain.

L/100 km

Just started 37.4
Half km 20
One km 14.9
10 km 9.8
20 km 9.1

Car stopped is useless as there is no kilometer to the equation.

Very much worst in winter as this aluminum engine is long to warm. Maybe I should invest in a block heater.

Thanks for that! You have the 6 cylinder?

For the 10km and 20km, I am assuming that was highway driving? Was any of that city?

I don't think I can come close to 9.1 if just starting from overnight and then quickly hopping on the highway for 20km

Any chance you have a strong smell of fuel/exhaust? I am having a hard time pinning down the exact smell, but all I know is it is strong, even when temps are high in the 20s like yours are.

Thanks again for taking the time to do that. I really think there is something off with my outie....

Highway indeed but a very crowded one near Montreal, full of truck trying to squash you.

The urban portion is about 5 km to the highway a stop sign every corner or so. by the time I reached the Highway I was at about 12 L/100km
This is a 40 km round trip so I get back in the city for another 5 km at the end.

Did it two time (yearly flower run with the lady) same results just a bit better today as better weather.
I briefly saw 73.5 but that lasted 1 minute at most and went down to 27 right away

No Fuel smell ever and it's a 2010 XLS v6

I also had the transmission reprogrammed for hard shifting and I think it cost me a little (slippage).
