LED License Plate Bulb Replacements
Hey Guys! Photo added of Wedge LEDs and 194 bulbs.
I just installed these "WLED-WHP Pure White High Power" parts and they work great!
http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html
The price was 4.95 x 2 = 9.90 + 5.00 USPS = $14.90 Total
Great, fastservice too, the order was placed late Tuesday night online and arrived in Honolulu on Friday via USPS Priority.
The parts were small and inexpensive and I was worried that the "WLED-WHP" single LED replacements would be too dim
for the 194 license plate bulbs. But I've got a nice white HID look for the rear license plate without overkill and at a painless price.
These draw much less wattage, run cooler and have a longer life too.
I've ordered more stuff and I'll keep you posted. Our Outlander wasahead of it's time and I'd like to complete the look by adding more LEDs to the lighting system...at a reasonable cost too.
Take care! It's TGIF!

RE: LED License Plate Bulb Replacements
Sorry no photos yet...
These look good for the interior light bulbs, a 31 mm/Festoon type.

These are the same type I used to replace my 194/W5W/Wedge type forthe lrear license plate bulbs.
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481
I checked tonight and I think they'll work in the front corners of the parking lamp assembly and the bottom rear corners also.
It's not recommended to use white LED bulbs behind the amber or red lenses (non-flashing indicators), but the 194 wedge bulbs in those areas were not colored either.
I'll take a chance and order four more "WLED-WHP" from Superbrightleds and I'll tell you how it all works out.

Another can of worms are those HID conversion kits...
But that's another topic.
Take care,
E

RE: LED License Plate Bulb Replacements
Just changed my front Parking Light bulbs tonight,
the 194/W5W/Wedge type between the headlights and directly under the high light bulbs.
Used the "194 SMT Tower II" LEDs in "Cool White" at $9.99 each.
http://superlumination.com/images/au..._smt2_w_wm.jpg
http://autolumination.com/194.htm
Very happy with the results...Brighter than stock and the parking lights now have that "HID look", a white colored light.
Less current draw than the stock 5 watt bulbs too!
Photos soon...
Temporary photo added, a better one will be added later.

RE: LED License Plate Bulb Replacements
Photos were added to the above, but sorry...I'm kinda rusty at this. So I'll practice a little more and get better.
All of my W5W/194 Wedge bulbs have been changed to Cool White LEDs.
(Thelittle 5 watt bulbs that were removedwouldrun kinda hot.)
After changing 8 bulbs x 5 watts= 40 watts, I must have reduced my power drain by a significant amount.
Runs cool and looks cool too.
Take care!

I can see another benefit to these, for the ones among us that have small kids. You'll be less likely to be faced with a car that wont start in the morning because the kids left the dome light on, [sm=chairshot.gif]

Yes, the headlights and interior lights do have an auto turn off feature...except for the map lights.
You'll just reduce the drain on your entire charging system when the lights are onand the engine is running.
But don't ask me how much wattage or horsepower...I'm not an engineer.
I've read that HID lights are a 35 watt drain vs 55 watts...asone example of the benefit to autos from newer technologies in lighting.

Ho yea cool, I knew about the headlights but I hadn't noticed about the dome light. My old Mazda didn't have that and I had to jump start it at least twice because the kids left the dome light on.
