I have found why the first attempt to get the horn to confirm locking seem to fail.

The system work by cycling though the 3 options.
i.e.
1 - no confirm
2 - Confirm on lock
3 - Confirm on dual press of lock

And the default is "3", so on first attempt you go to "1" then on second attempt you go to option "2" which is the option we want.

Cheers for all of your help mate!

I can't seem to find any documentation regarding setting the horn confirmation in my Aussie manual.

Also, doing the reverse process of releasing the lock button first then unlock in the sequence, does give a chirp. This changing the unlock functions.

But it doesn't work in reverse!

I'll ask my dealer next time I take the car in for a service.

I'll keep trying, but I reckon I won't be having much luck!

Any other Aussies tried this?

I asked at the local dealer in Dandenong and they said it could only be done if you have the MMCS system. Unfortunately I don't.

There are regional differences. For example, only a dealer can program a key in Canada, while you can do it yourself in the US.

Sorry it doesn't work. If it's in the book you would expect it to work but who knows with translation from Japanese to English done in France...

By the way is it in your book? In mine the standard remote key is on page 3-11 and I have both a French and an English book (Mandatory in Quebec). Both have the same bad instructions just translated.

Maybe the dealer lobby at Mitsubishi had this feature locked for the user??

Don't apologise!

No, it's not in my book. I guess they locked it for dealer modification only
