Locking issue

Hi,
This has probably been answered already - I've scanned through a few posts but found nothing that matches. I've a 2018 plate Outlander diesel, the other day I went to the car and pressed the unlock button and it didn't work until I was right at the car, I thought the battery might be getting low so ordered another. The battery hadn't arrived when I went to the car this morning and the car wouldn't unlock using the button so I put the key in and unlocked the car at which point the alarm went off for some time before thankfully stopping ;-) I tried the spare key and this didn't work either. Not wishing to get somewhere and discover I was stuck with alarms going off or I couldn't get in the car again I decided to wait for the new key fob battery which I installed a short while ago - this didn't make any difference. I could start the car without issue, which implies it detects the key. I've a OBDII plug in device so I thought there may be an error code but nothing showed, after checking for the error code I thought Id give the key fob button one last try and it works. Has anyone had anything similar, is there something in the car that could be failing? Our local Mitsubishi dealer closed down last year so it's a long long drive to get to one these days so I would rather sort it myself.
Edit - I just went out to use the car and it wouldn’t unlock using either key fob.

check the tightness of the screws that secure the door pin switches for the interior light on each door. If these are loose, you get poor contact, and the car doesnt know that the door is shut, and will not allow unlocking electrically
