Melted rubber coating

Thats wierd......is it getting super hot down around that lever? Got a hot lady driving your rig?
Maybe just clean it up with gas, and then put some wire heat shrink tubing on the lever and heat it to make it shrink up onto the lever? Or just good ole duct tape?

Hi Karzen,
How its going?
I have the same problem with the lever, when its getting too hot outside.
Did you manage to fix the problem or did the lever got hard again when cooled down?
Thanks.

Not really. I just wiped the whole mess off of the steel handle and forgot about it.

If this is about the steering wheel adjustment lever (under the steering wheel), mine is melted too (2008 Outlander).
Even during the winter was soft, bending and sticky and that black plastic/rubber messy compound is very hard to get off your fingers.
I was planning to put a shrink tube on the whole thing, shrink it and cut off the melted compound that comes out at the ends, but removing it completely is probably a better option.
