Default Metallic cicadas sound from one of the wheels

hsssssssssss

also sounds like metal polishing

Goes away when I apply brakes.

What could this be?

Also seems to go away after 5-10 minutes of driving.

I hate to say it, but you gave the answer in your post. Raise the car and safely support it with jack stands. Put the transmission in neutral. Rotate each wheel by hand and you will find out which brake is making the noise. Possibly an pad worn unevenly?????...like you said, the noise goes away when you apply the brakes. Ergo, check the brakes. And as you live in south Florida, I bet your rotors flash rust overnight. Have you had brake work done recently?

Thanks. No brake work done recently and the car only has 45K miles, too early for the brakes to go bad yet, no?

Check the brakes. Anything can happen.

Caliper hanging up-bad brake pad, ect.

Default Front pads wear faster

Front brakes wear faster than rear brakes, count on it. If you have 45K on the brakes, it is time to check them anyway, especially the fronts.

Feel and smell the wheels right after driving for a while. If one is hotter or smells different, you could have a sticking caliper.

So it was my pads getting low and the indicator was making the noise.

Replaced the pads today with some Raybestos professional grade ones.

I am surprised that the stock pads lasted less than 50K miles, with my wife driving locally.

By comparison, I just replaced the stock pads on my GTO after 6 years and 87K miles, and they still had a little material left on them.

Oh well.
