Default Minor collision - now in 'Limp Mode'

Had a low speed front end collision last week...minor damage to front bumper on my 2010 Outlander diesel auto. After exchanging insurance details, I started the car and noticed the 'check engine' light is on, and the car is in 'Limp Mode'. It's going in for the bodywork repair, but just wondered what the reason for the 'Limp Mode' might be?

the vehicle must communicate with many different sensors for many of the features to work. For instance, many years ago I had an abs/speed sensor go out. It disabled abs since it had no idea what the wheel was doing. It also put transmission in limp home since it didn't know what the wheel was doing.

There are also temp sensors under there. If there are enough sensor inputs missing, the car will go into limp home mode to prevent damages to the engine, you could also have crimped the hose on the transmission cooler and the restricted flow is causing a limp home code for that. Good luck, make sure the shop has some Mitsubishi experience or knows how to read the manuals

there should also be multiple trouble codes indicating what it cannot see or what sensors are reading high/low numbers.
