Hello ! I have a Mitsubishi Outlander 2007 with 115,000 miles. My steering wheel is shaking when I'm on the high way at 70mph , and underneath my car is pretty rusty! Not sure if this causes major problems??

 

have you gotten your tires balanced recently? What part of the world are you from (so we can make assumptions about amount of rust)?

 

They have put new tires but I'm almost sure they didn't balance it

When you get new tires, balancing is a must, and alignment is a very good idea.

 

Should that be free if I just got the car yesterday or should I go somewhere other than the dealership ?

 

if you want to spot check them, have at minimum the fronts balanced. front wheels will make the steering wheel shake. rear wheels out of balance will cause a vibration in your seat you feel in your butt. Any shop should be able to do this.

In my opinion, you can't beat firestone's lifetime alignment deal. I bought mine for $150 when I got new tires at 45k miles. You get unlimited front end alignments. I get the tires rotated and alignment checked every 7.5k miles after I change my oil. normally an alignment is $75 or so. I'm getting my money's worth out of it.

Check the air pressure in your tires get them all balanced, and an alignment. I went to Firestone with coupons got a great deal on lifetime alignments and wheel balance.

As long as it was maintained...not at all. I'm at 183k and still very strong. If you just bought it, have the spark plugs and timing belt checked to make sure they were changed...should be done at 100k.
