Remote works fine, the remote battery died today and I could not unlock the driver side door, the key turns to both sides however is not engaging anything. Help throubleshoot is much appreciated.

There is a plastic sleeve that fits over a small metal rod attaching the key cylinder to the lock mechanism. The sleeve is oriented downward. Guess what happens after years of vibration. It slips down and the turning the key cylinder no longer pushes the little rod up and down. The door panel needs to come off to fix. Happened to me last year
