Mitsubishi Outlander 2016 paint issue?
I've seen multiple complaints about the paint being an issue, too thin so you need to have a bug protector.
Anybody has some better idea or has the same paint issue?
Can you comment and advise on how to solve this?

Do any cars now a days have thick paint? I have a 2016 and have no complaints at this point.
I have had an issue with the paint on our 2011 Outlander, more chips than I can count on the hood, roof, fenders, etc. Made several claims with the dealer as well as Mitsubishi customer service and basically was told its normal wear. Never had this issue with any other car I have owned.
I noticed that mitsubishi have not only thinner paint layer, but also thinner sheet metal and glass than other makes. It was surprise for me when i bought my outlander. But it holds up good, no problems with paint in 5 years.
While my wife and I were shopping for a used Outlander 3 years ago, we looked at probably 30 Outlanders. The only ones that did not have significant to severe paint damage (especially in the area just in front, and the lower portion, of the rear wheel wells) were those that had the original 3M protection package. Our 2010 XLS had/has this package and its paint has been protected very well over the years.
I was so concerned about paint damage that I installed 3M on all four doors. You can see the result on the photo below. Today it's raining and my wife just returned from church, so the doors are still dirty and wet. You can see the line where the 3M ends up near the door handles.
In short, the Outlander badly needs 3M or other film protection. When it comes time to sell, you'll be glad yous spent the dough up front.

All cars these days have thin paints. The new formula is supposed to be more environmentally friendly. This is one reason why I applied opticoat and xpel ultimate. Still looks amazing.
A month ago, someone threw an m&m cookie out of their car on the highway. I didn't catch who. It deflected of my hood and hit my windshield. It cracked my windshield but miraculously there was no damage to my hood.
