Just got a call from my dealer...is this a new recall or did my dealer lie to me?

I may be wrong, but I thought there was a thread on this not too long ago. Search the site to see if you can find it.

Definite recall, here is what I could find:

MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING 21,493 MY 2007-2008 OUTLANDER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH LED TYPE STOP LAMPS AND DISTRIBUTED IN THE UNITED STATES AND PUERTO RICO. THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE THE STOP LAMPS TO NOT ILLUMINATE DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE LAMPS TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED WILL NOT PROVIDE WARNING TO FOLLOWING TRAFFIC AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING FEBRUARY 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037. MITSUBISHI RECALL NO. SR-09-001.CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .

Sounds mildly important, eh?

Also received the letter. Called my dealer and said the brake switch replacement takes about 20 minutes. I suggest all concerned have it done.

Default I tried to have it done

and had an appointment. When I took the vehicle in, they ran the VIN and told me it didn't fall within the recall. Apparently only 2 2007 outlanders in canada are effected and mine, which was built in april, isn't one of them. That's my dealer's line. Anyone in Canada have theirs done?

my brake switch was replaced by the dealer last week. It was 38.++ but off course it's free since it is a recall. You might want to call mitsu motors canada and ask about the recall so they can facilitate your case if you do require a new switch.
