New SUV, new tires! Suggestions?
Hi!
I have my brand new Outlander XLS V6 for a week now. I live in an area with very rough roads, unpaved and rocky roads, mountain riding, mud etc...
My stock wheels are the 18" wheels with the Goodyear tires. These tires aren't made for anyting else than asphalt. They do not suit my needs and maybe more suited for the city driving soccer moms.
My dealership made me a great offer buying back my wheels and tires, gave me back new 16'' wheels on the XL model + 400 bucks. Flame me if you want but I need beefier tires.
Time to look for an off road capable tire! Any suggestions???
P.S I looked at BFG All terrains, anybody have them on their Outie??
Thanks!

I agree the low profile tires are a very poor choice given the roads in your area. If you feel all terrains are best for your area then by all means get them. You have to go with what gives you the best performance and safety for the roads you travel most.

I've seen pepole running their Outlander with 16" rims on BFG ATs, on Bridgestone Dueller D694s or General Grabber AT2 so far and one guy with Yokohama AT/S on 18"
Spoke to all of them, all very happy except for the noise when running on asphalt. All were driving on dirt/rocky tracks quite often.
Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for your input!!!
I looked at the dealer's Yokohama Geolandar 16" and they looked a bit too bland for my taste. Still better than the 18's I have though. They were asking 159$ per rubber.
For 40$ extra I can get the BFG All Terrain's, the only concern I have is fuel economy since my Outie seems pretty good even though it only has 200 km on the clock. White letters on the All terrain's would look great with the white body color too.
Will keep you guys posted!

What you really need is softer suspension. However, that kills handling...so its either one or the other. I have 16inch rims and the ride is very bad in a gravel parking lot that I park in (that has tons of holes). I went down an abandoned road once and it was bone jarring/violently swaying the whole way.

IVANZ....This is why an All Terrain tires comes handy. The stock 16" Geolandar's that I saw were basically regular touring tires just like my 18" Goodyears. Not meant to do any kind off off-roading or uneven road, asphalt and a bit of grass that's all. lol
All Terrain tires have reinforced sidewalls. As for the suspension I'm looking for a good set-up too. Maybe raise the Outie a bit too.
