Default Noise when accelerating on 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE

Hello i was hoping someone can point me in the right direction

When idling you can hear a whining noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. When I accelerate, the whining increases.

How many kms or miles on the odometer?

By "humming", do you mean that whining sound as you accelerate?

I'm leaning toward the CVT being the source of the whining sound.

Is there any difference in the whining sound (while the vehicle's engine and transmission are completely warmed up, the vehicle is not moving, and you do NOT touch the accelerator pedal) between putting the transmission in neutral and putting the transmission in drive while depressing the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from moving? In other words, with the engine idling, depress the brake pedal, do not touch the accelerator pedal, and then shift back and forth between D and N and see if this affects the whining sound.

Then, with the enging running and transmission in Drive, press the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from moving and slightly press the accelerator to increase engine RPM a little bit. Does doing that affect the whining sound, if at all?

Just had a chance to test the car and I didn’t notice any change in the sound in either case.

thanks for the help

I'm having the same issue. The sound in your videos is identical to mine. Did you ever find out what it was?

Get a $20 code reader to diagnose the transmission code. With a CVT, it's never good. The whinning could be the AC compressor. Mine got so bad it got embarrassing around people and had to replace it.
