Oil change question
Hey guys, I'm looking to change my oil soon on my 08 outlander V6 3.0. Just got the oil filter from the dealer, MZ690072 or old# MIMD325714. Is this the right filter? I glanced under the car and notice a different part number for the OEM oil filter. Also another question. what type of oil do you guys use? The service manual didn't specified if regular motor oil or fully synthetic oil is needed. I was looking at the Mobile 1, the5000 mile 5W - 20 one, but they didn't have enought of it in stock.

RE: Oil change question
I've found the OEM filter was a bit bigger than the ones I get from the dealers. I think the latter ones are made in Thailand and the Original was from Japan. You should have the correct one there. I wouldn't worry too much about what oil you are using at this point at the engine is still breaking in and regular oil would be fine. Synthetic would be fine as well, but you can start using it later on.

RE: Oil change question
5w 20 does the job. synthetic is one of those iffy topics. some argue for, some against. i think its just preference. my uncle is a race car driver and he uses regular oil in his cuda. my wife wont put anything but synthetic in her mustang. who knows really. id like to see factual science on it and not just someones opinion.
