well...just like your experienced w/ hks power flo. i, noticed open element filters needs a sheild. went on to search a filter w/ sheild and bump on racecrafts filter w/ carbon fiber sheild. ( @ e-bay)

The adapter is stainless steel but I can't really answer you if it is lightweight. Cost me roughly about US$20 or less.

weapon-r carries the stainless steel adapter and i got one. but so far, i dont like the weight. thats why am' stickin w/ plastic 3" adapter.
