Default Outlander 2013+ reliability

Hi, What is the reliability of 2013-2014 Outlander in comparison to Toyota rav4, Subaru Forester? Do they last 10-15 years with no major issues? What kind of problems are common on this models?

It is March, 2014. How is anyone going to know the long-term reliability of the 2013 and 2014 vehicles versus say the 2007? If history is a guide, they'll be reliable.

Only 9-14 years left before you're able to answer OP's funny question

Thank you for replies. I am researching this vehicle and interested in hearing what experience people had with it. Consumer report has rated Forester as #1, however many owners have issues such as start up problems, excessive oil consumption by the engine, brittle glass, camshaft problems etc. I tried searching for outbacks problems and so far there has been little reports.

2013+ is referred to as generation 3. Generation 2 was 2007-2012. Not sure how much changed between the two. Gen2 Outlander has been really good for me...one of my best vehicles yet.

The Gen 3 uses the identical Gen 2 engines, both 2.4L & 3L. I think the transmission and almost all the electronics are identical. The difference would be the more of mechanical & structural. The compression ratio tweak to make it more economical.

I think most member would agree that the outlander is fairly robust. Else it would be costly for MM to support the 10yrs Powertrain & 5 yrs everything warranty.

Use proper fuel and proper service intervals and it will be reliable. Most hiccups happen in first model years. I plan on buying a 2013 with 15,000 kms...early lease return because he wanted something smaller.

Not true, I beleive the 3rd generation is now single cam on both the 2.4 and the 3.0L. That's what my dealer told me anyway.

Your dealer is moron, most of them are.
2.4 is always DOHC, 3.0 is always SOHC for both 2nd and 3rd gen.
