Default Outlander 2014, minor accident

Some kid hit my front driver corner. Am I better off taking it to a reputable body shop or the dealership collision center? The bumper needs to be replaced, it's out of alignment, fog light smashed and a new dashboard light just popped on that looks like a skid warning (two squiggly lines under a car). Nothing touches when I turn the wheel, is it safe to drive until I can get it in?

Thanks for any help.
Tracy

I would personally take it to the dealer.

I believe that the light that is on the dash is an traction control light. Normally when this is on traction control is switched off. Traction control stops you from wheel spinning. I.e burn outs lol as it cuts the power.

If it were me, it would depend on insurance. If you were only to pay your deductible and the insurance was willing to go with the dealer...go for it. I wouldn't worry about going to a reputable collision center.

On anther vehicle, I tried to get a rear bumper painted and I was just going to put it on myself. The local large collision center was willing to do it, however warned me about getting cheap parts off ebay. THEY were the ones suggesting I get the bumper from the dealer to ensure fit quality. Since then, I've had our Outlander in there to have another minor fender bender fixed. Turned out looking great.

I never go to the dealership unless it is a warranty issue. I use a local body shop. one that I have used many time and they are more trusted by me than the dealer. This is just my opinion. JR
