Outlander Sport 50mpg???
I made an account here just to ask about my car rental experience. I needed a car for a day and was given an Outlander Sport SE with a full tank of course. For the time I had it I did a couple of short highway bursts about 10-12 miles each, some city stop and go, and a longer trip on back roads around 40-55 mph plus additional stop and go through small towns.
My total mileage was 107, and when I went to fill up I was astounded. Just about 1.75 gallons until the pump clicked. Gave it a bit more to be sure and second click was 1.9.
Is it really possible that I did 107 miles on under 2 gallons of fuel? I had read some YouTube comments from owners saying that 44 to 45 mpg is pretty doable, but on the forums people generally report mid 30s and reviewers report even less.
I drive with a fairly light foot, but I'm not a hyper miler by any means. I put my foot to the floor a few times too just to get up to speed on on ramps.
At 40 plus mpg I would seriously consider owning one of these things and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It is slow but somehow it feels peppy and the overpowered steering rack is something I actually like. Only main con is the engine noise under load.
But seriously, is this kind of fuel economy normal?
