Default Outlander and Trailer LED Indicators

Before I get started......what a great forum.....I come here everyday and read and learn.....I think I have read all the posts on the Outlander.

I am in New Zealand and have a 2010 VRX 2.4 Outlander.

What a fabulous vehicle it is and I am so impressed with it. Certainly is a change of style from a Mitsi Diamante to the Outlander.

I have a slight problem.......I installed upgraded LED lights on my trailer, and now the left and right turn signal flash faster than normal. Even though they flash faster the signals are still visible i.e the trailer LED flashers are perfectly visible when flashing fast.

I never had this issue with standard trailer lights and am aware from googling that the LEDS draw less current, with the vehicle then believing a light is blown, therefore flashing the signals faster.

Although not to much of a bother to me as all still operates fine, my question is....... can this do harm to anything with the vehicle electronics by the indicators flashing faster when the trailer is hooked on ????????

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first post. Are you using any kind of converter for the trailer lightning (Curt, Uhaul, etc.)? I was planning on doing the LED light conversion for my trailer too and wondered if the lesser resistance was going to be an issue.

No converter whatsoever. I have found these which I have purchased a set to see if this will fix the problem.

2 x LED Turn Signal Load Resistor Blinker Fix 50W 6ohm | eBay

Not that its a major issue with the lights flashing faster, my concern was will it damage anything in the car electronics. I cant see that happening, but to be safe have purchased the resistors.

Seriously doubt it would harm anything with the lights flashing faster.
