Default Panel from Front bumper missing/fell off

As i get to my car this morning i noticed something odd with the front of the outie, and observed that a panel on the driver side under the fog light to be missing.

First off what should i do? Will warranty be able to replace it for free? Surely iam gonna complain if it isn;t
I have an 08 outie with it being about 7 months old now.

And Second why did Mitsubishi leave this opening in the front bumper? is there something that can be installed there? or future use?

That is normal. There is no panel there. It is meant to channel air to the transmission cooler.

Yep no worries. None of the Outlanders have that plasitic piece. I knew it was for airflow purposes, but I didnt know for what. Thanks Mislovic for clearing up that the airflow is for the tranny cooler.

That part is an air duct for the oil cooler. If you look closer you will see radiator fins in there. European diesel Outlanders doesn't have this air duct. Both sides are covered with plastic.

thats what i though it was for some kind of intake/duct for air flow. But when we first got it i though there was a panel there but i wasn't to sure.
so you all have the air duct in the bumper?

No, not all Outlanders have this air duct. Only 3.0L V6 gasoline engine Outlanders have this. The 2.4L gasoline, and diesel Outlanders in Europe DOES NOT have this air duct.

I have it in my US 07 XLS since it's 3.0L.

That's not true. The 2.4L variants of the US Outlanders (e.g. 08 Outlander SE) don't have this air duct.

Oh yeah, the 4 cyl dont have this. ALL the US 2007 ones do, because they are all 3.0L V6's.

I have an 08 ES 2.4L US model and it does have the transmission cooler, but does not have the'missing piece'you describe. However, with the bottom center of the front being open with the black plastic grille I'm sure it gets plenty of air flow.
