The Oz version also does not have this piece missing, however they do pop out when you go through big puddles or large amounts of soft sand

Interesting.. I've the aussie v6, that piece on the left is missing. The transmission cooler is right behind it. Did you have the 2.4cvt or v6?

i have the 2008 2.4 4wd when i first got the car i don't think the hole was there, and this is why i posted the concern. but i'm not a 100% sure so just wanted to see how everyone elses was
