Default Pet Barrier?

Can anyone recommend one for the 2009 Outlander?

I zip tied two baby gates to the metal posts of the head rests in the middle row of seats.
Worked great from Ohio to Florida and back.

No, my daughter did not ride in the back. This was at a rest area. She wanted to play with her puppy.

Just an FYI, the Outlander was named "Dog car of the year". No this isn't a joke. The organization of people who breed and raise show dogs rated the Outlander the best for hauling their prize dogs to shows.

Since none of you were helpful I ended up buying a pet barrier from Canadian Tire. Works great and it was on sale!

It is {"Canadian" Tire} There is no US price!
It isn't on sale anymore, but looks like the ones I have seen offered in the US.

I too am interested in this item. It looks like the factory part is for sale on Amazon and eBay for $169+$50 shipping:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DOG-G...Q5fAccessories

However, I also found these items on JC Whitney that I think I'll give a try before I shell out over $200:

That one looks like the OEM doggie-fence. I ordered the original part to be installed at the dealer when my car will be delivered. I am just thinking how hard it is to remove it temporarily. I am getting 3rd row seats and even though they are rarely in use, it would be nice to access the seats as well...

And about the JCWhitney pieces:
The net is cargo net for floor, but it might work in preventing the dog from climbing to back seat, but in collision it would just wrap the dog for flight through the windshield...

The second one, JCWhitney pet battier, looks otherwise ok, but they tend to leave nasty(-ish) marks in your roof liner and floor mat. Had similar one in a stw back in the day..

I think in a collision of that magnitude I'd have bigger problems than my cargo net-wrapped dog flying through the windshield.

For $20 bux it might be worth a try is all I was trying to say.

You're lucky if the pooch aims to the windshield. In my previous life I saw an accident where rottweiler hit the driver from the stw rear to the back of the poor guy's head.. Needless to say the car never got repaired, none of the interior parts were sold after the car was stripped of all usable parts.....

I am considering MIM Variocage cage, but it would be blocking the 3rd row seats.. The cage is also bit expensive. Though local PD K9 Units use exclusively these cages.

Still, anything is better than nothing. And in the end, Outlander is high, the 2nd row seats are quite high. Most pooches would just slam against the seat back though..
