im wondering if this will work and will update my mmcs which is the american version? has anyone else found out how to update the gracenote software?

In a nutshell:

1. Download the new gracenote cddb data here: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/s.../date/1320.zip
2. Burn the *.txt, *.udt, and *.udx files to a CD
3. Insert CD in MMCS, go to Mode, and select Gracenote Update

This looks like great info, and I will try it on my US MMCS unit later this evening and report back!

 

So long as it doesn't give you titles in Japanese, that would be great. I can't believe they (Mitsu or GraceNote) do not have a better support system for this. The responsibility belongs with Mitsubishi to support the system they are selling either themselves or through contract with GraceNote. I know that with every day that goes by, the system becomes more out of date and less desirable.

If any of you Mitsubishi corporate sales and marketing types are monitoring these forums, which you should be, we need technical support!!!!

 

Well it didn't work at all for me. Just says "Please check the disc" and doesn't give me the Gracenote CDDB option. I even tried the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 updates from here http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...652679,00.html ... still no go.

I agree that mitsubishi should be more on top of this. Pioneer releases gracenote updates every 6 months, and apparently mitsubishi in Japan has updates. Why not USA?

Hopefully the new Map DVD supposedly due out later this year will have a cddb update as well. Otherwise the only option may be unlocking the hard drive and forcing an update in the filesystem

 

hey thanks for checking this out... i was a little hesitant because i didnt want to some-how reprogram my mmcs into jap... but i really agree, mitsu really needs to stay on top of this!
