My outlander will only scan when the steering wheel buttons are used. If I want to pick a station I have to use the preset buttons on the unit. PITA. My commodore use to go to the next preset on its steering wheel controls.

So far it looks like the up/down buttons on the steering wheel behave differently on the Navi vs. non-Navi models. I wonder why? The service manger at my dealership promised to inquire at Mitsu Canada if it's possible toreprogram toscan through the presets.
I have a feeling that there is avery slim chance since the manual only talks about "seek" function on those buttons.

I dont see why they couldnt reprogram it. All the button does is change the station either go by every station or the programed ones. It couldnt possibly be wired differently or something along them lines.

You would think, but let's see what Mitsu says.

As anticipated, the answer from Mitsu Canada was NO. The steering wheel up/down buttons CANNOT be reprogramed to move through the preset stations.
If anyone can prove otherwise, please let me know.

NOTE: Thisapplystothe Canadian models with the Single-CD head unit (at least).

I have an XLS with Navi, and mine does the presets, which is what makes sense, I don't know why they would have it do anything else. What I would have liked them to do is default to changing presets, and then if you hold the button down for like 2-3 seconds, it seeks. This is the way the 06 Explorers are and it makes it so nice to have the option to do presets or seek from the steering wheel, oh well, maybe in the future.

Need to resurrect this dated thread from the dead!

2010 XLS - Steering wheel track up/down only scans, doesn't go through presets on non-nav head unit.

Seems Mitsu still hasn't figured things out...lame!
