Default Random Antifreeze Smell

Hi all, a newbie here...

I have a 2013 Outlander Sport. I have noticed lately a random very slight antifreeze smell immediately after I shut off the car, from the drivers side near the front of the engine compartment. You have to get within inches of the grille or the area to notice it. The level in the reservoir tank seems to vary slightly between just above or below the minimum line.

I cannot find any leaks, stains, or other tell tale signs in the engine compartment or on any hoses. No antifreeze on the ground or on the inside of the plastic skid plates under the radiator. The smell is localized only to that area near the radiatior on the drivers side. I know what antifreeze smells like and I know it is that smell.

Car not running hot, no dummy lights on, no check engine light on. Heat functions fine. No smell inside the cabin or when I use any fan or vent setting.

Any suggestions... ??

Thanks!

Bill

My 2011 Outlnader does the same thing from time to time.....but it's only in the summer that I have noticed it and only after the car is turned off. After looking all over the engine compartment, I have come to the conclusion it's just coming from the radiator overflow bottle. It's just venting and doing it's job.

Makes sense, Thanks for the info . If if continues, I'll mention it when it goes in for the next PM.

It's normal. At least on all Outlanders/Lancers I've seen.

I never thought it is normal for some Outlander. Haven't experience it on mine.
