Im sure his objection is more for form than function. I agree, most installations they look "ricey". You can hardly see them in the Outlander though, as shown in the last pic.

As for function, theyre loud and anoying sounding. Great for getting the attention of oblivious drivers. The next best option would be air horns and I didnt want to deal that.

Absolutely correct. They look atrocious, and sound ridiculous too. If you want to get someone's attention, just keep a cupholder full of lug nuts, or get a train horn. At least then it would be serving it's purpose.

Yeah, I agree. Most domestics don't have the wimpy, higher-pitched tone that many imports have, including the Outlander. Would OE horns (say, from a GM) be plug-and-play (not requiring additional wiring)? I'd do that in a second!

It's seriously just positive and negative, it should be just clip on. However, if you can put batteries in your remote, you can wire this thing up.

Yeah, I'm good with that. I'm asking whether or not the Outlander's OE wiring can handle the load of other (OE) horns. I guess I'm wondering if all OE horns pull roughly the same load.

They all run on a 12v circuit.

Thats an oversimplification. Voltage isn't irrelevant, but its not what you should look at. That would be wattage. Watts=Volts*Amps

A simple way to tell would be to compare the fuses for the horn circuit on the two vehicles.

If the fuse from the car with the horn your considering is more than 4 Amps, it wont work. You will melt the 20AWG wire to the horn.

Its really not difficult to wire a relay though

If the Hellas arent your bag, PIAA also offers trumpet horns in several different tones:

Or the cheaper Wolos

That's a fair point.
