We have an 09 XLS in black
with the silver roof rails. I would like to remove these permanently, is it possible, and does it leave any holes that need filling?

 

if you remove them..... there will be very noticeable "mounting points".

just do what i did. take them off sand . prmer. and paint satin black.

looks a lot better.

Did you paint the front bottom guard too? Personally, I am ok with silver. Btw, I have same exact model and color including tinted windows.

yes..i painted the lower "skid-plate" satin black. it was just silver pained plastic.

i did not do anything to the door handles. thay are still the silver plastic as when i got it.

 

guys, i have a 2010 SE, i wanna do exactly the opposite of what you've done!!!! mine is black, i want it to be silver!!! and i could not find the part anywhere, so i guess i need to paint it to silver... how to disassemble the rails???? and anyone knows the silver paint code?? ....i also want 4 chrome door handles!! gosh! i wish we had a exchange club...
