Default Scheduled Major Maintenance - Transmission

So I have to take my 2011 Outlander (V6) in for a warranty issue on something un-related. They told me with 65,000 KM being on the vehicle it was due for a major maintenance at 48,000 KM. The major being a transmission flush / or Transmission service?

I have another mechanic I usually use for these things unless I can tackle it myself, which often I do. Can anyone confirm what should be done here, flush or just a fluid change? Is there a filter to change as well, does the pan have to come off?

I'm wondering if I should just do it myself. They quoted me $200.00 for just the transmission or $500 for the entire service which includes tire rotation, engine oil change and an inspection of the vehicle. I thought that was pretty steep and I can do all of that other stuff myself and regularly do.

There are some really good threads on transmission fluid change procedure...and I just did this 2 months ago. Really isn't too hard. All stealerships will do a drain & fill...which only changes 2 qts out for the same price you could purchase all the fluid you'd need to do the work yourself. Downside, fluid is generally dealer only unless you can source AMSOIL. I change mine out every 45k miles / 72KM.

I'm about to get mine changed in the next 5k miles for the first time. Mine is a '07 with 94k miles. I've bought my XLS brand new in 2007. I've only had to do oil changes and tire replacements. Replaced rotors and pads at 80k miles.

Don't know where you're located, but my local Midas shop does transmission changes for $129.

There are different opinions regarding flushes vs drain & fills. IMO, the older the vehicle, the more chances for problems with a flush.
