Do you by any chance know where I can get info on turning off the service reminder on a 2002 Mitsubshi Montero Sport. I would also like to get my hands on a vehicle specific service manual that dosent cost hunderds of dollars. Thanks.

Does this include the Nav/MMCS Outlanders? Or is there a way to set it in the MMCS?

I had tried to change it via the instructions, but it didn't work. I've only got 1400 miles on mine and have a "Periodic Maintenance" reminder upon start up. I didn't get a chance to check any further about MMCS settings.

I just had my oil changed for the first time. This has been a big help. I am confused a little though, as I said, I just got the oil changed today and it says 7000 miles to the next change, is this because I was a bad Outie Owner and changed it at 8k instead of 7.5k?

Thank's Rich, I made the procedure that you describe and worked perfectly. Recently I took my Out to service and perhaps they forgot to reset the alert, because whenever I turn on my Out appeared the message [sm=smiley20.gif]

Resetting Periodic Inspection to Correct Milage

I am now 4 days with my 08 Outlander and enjoying it. 1st time starting after getting home from dealer the PI message showed up. I followed the clear procedure and it is now set to 27500 miles. I would like to set this to a more logical value like 7500. I see how to change the schedule but did not see anyone instruct on a total reset. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

lalamax 04-04-2009 07:44 PM

Just to clarify:

ScheduleWarning types Warning criteria taken from my multifunction display:

JPN10 - 12000 KM / 12 MONTH
JPN11 - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH
JPN20 - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH
JPN30 - 12000 KM / 12 MONTH
JPN31 - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH
JPN40 - 12000 KM / 3 MONTH

NAS10 - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH
NAS11 - 12000 KM / 3 MONTH
NAS20 - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH
NAS21 - 12000 KM / 4 MONTH

EU10 - 12000 KM / 12 MONTH
EU11 - 12000 KM / 12 MONTH

AUS - 12000 KM / 12 MONTH

GCC - 12000 KM / 6 MONTH

OPTION - OFF

I selected JPN10 because it's the one that adjusts to the schedule maintenance of Mitsubishi Mexico. The previuos was NAS10.

patrick0923 10-02-2009 03:06 PM

I accidentally turn the service reminder "off", could you tell me how to turin it back on?

halfasleep 01-28-2010 04:09 AM

I just got an oil change and the mechanic adjusted it for 6000KM and 3 months. What I want is 6000KM and 4 months which is NAS21, when I put it to NAS21 it gives me 1800KM and 2 months. I adjusted it before but this time it doesn't seem to work. Anybody ever faced this situation and has a solution ?

Thanx

ccernst 01-28-2010 08:28 AM

one thing you can do is "reset" it twice. I've done that a few times on accident. I have my change interval for the 5000 mile. I know I've done it twice already where I've reset it twice, so it then said the next service reminder was 10,000 miles away. i had to turn it off, then back on which reset it back to the 5000 mile.

halfasleep 01-29-2010 09:05 AM

I'll have to try that but how exactly do you reset it ? is it, pushing on the info button for more than 1.2 sec and than the wrench flashs and than push right after on the info button again but for less 1.2 sec so the word "clear" appears ? is that what a reset is ?

ruski 01-31-2010 08:16 PM

I have been able to successfully reset the service reminder and change schedule to 5,000 miles in the instrument cluster.

However every time I turn on my Outlander's ingnition, the navigation screen displays a line that says that my service is overdue. Is there a way to turn that off?

yeah, that is what I should have said. you want to clear that reminder.

halfasleep 02-01-2010 06:12 AM

Thanx...but it doesn't work, it always go back to 6000km and 3 months. I'll go to the dealership this week.

ccernst 08-11-2010 11:26 PM

I've changed the oil a few times and reset the reminder each time....but I've found an odd problem. My wife churns through the miles before the time elapses. I've got it set for ever 5k miles...but the months keep incrementing. it now says 4400miles or 20 months! I wonder if I have to turn it off and then back to NAS20?

I know I wont be much of any help. (Currently my Outlander is in the shop after an accident, or I would give you my procedure) BUT, I followed the instructions on the first page, and I now have a 6K and 4 month service interval. Follow the instruction to a T and clear your service reminder.

It will work, don't give up.

Cheers

armymen 01-29-2011 03:23 PM
