Default Shutter on slow-down when cold

20012 Outie V6, auto.

I'm guessing that it's the lock-up converter un-locking when comming to a stop when the engine is not fully warmed, Noticed it several times, not a constant thing.

anyone else experience this? Before I take it in and be told it's what I think it is?

How rough is it? If it is sloshing your coffee out of your cup have a real problem. Otherwise I'm pretty sure that this is just a byproduct of the ECU running the idle at 900-1000RPM (about 300-400RPM faster than normal) to keep it from stalling. The transmission is expecting the lower RPMs as it downshifts so you get more of a thump and a bit of jerk on every downshift.

The next time it does this pull over and put the car in park or neutral and compare the tach to what it is after the car warms up.

Torque converters usually only lock at highway-type speeds.

Thanks.

On second thought, the converter will lock up at higher speeds.

I beleive you are right about the down-shifting thing.

Mine doesn't do anything like you describe, it just comes down as expected.
