Mitsu sure isn't bashful when it comes to the price of parts.

Try one of the on-line parts suppliers.

I wonder with the Lancer FOB if you could program the truck release to release the hatch?

I've disassembled my Outlander key fob. Though trunk button does not move and even the switch is not soldered in, when you short circuit those unoccupied connectors the car properly detects trunk open button.

But it makes not much sense as a tailgate lock opens anyway as you touch its handle.

Here is the pic:

That the key can only be programmed once is BS. I got a used, unprogrammed one as my second key when I bought my Outlander used, and they programmed it to work with my car at the dealership. They were only going to give me one key with the car, but I complained and they found me a second one they had lying around. they only had to program it.

Well, I suppose it wasn't "unprogrammed." It was programmed to somebody else's Outlander, but orphaned at the dealership. It was a used fob, they mailed it to me after I complained about not having a second key, and I had it programmed to my Outlander at a local dealership. The keys can be reprogrammed. If the dealer wants to tell you they can't, just tell them it's your key and it lost its programming and needs to be reprogrammed. The reprogramming is a rip-off too, but it's cheaper than a new key.
