But you are correct, the F&R overhangs are different, the engine is different, and the AWD system is different. Other than that it's just minor or cosmetic differences for the most part.
Fair enough, they redesigned the exterior and indeed did have to make new parts in order to work properly.

All the current gen cars they sell in North American that are made in Japan are based on the same platform. That means quite a large number of things are exactly the same on the Outlander/RVR/Lancer/EVO. So you can swap them easily.

Btw, it's the same AWD system (except XLS) and engine used outside of North America (4B11 - 2.0L I4). The AWD Lancer also uses the same system.
