Exclamation spark plugs Outlander 2007

Hello All,

Can you please tell me when do I have to change the spark plugs on 2007 ES Outlander? What spark plugs should I use? The dealer said that I have to pay $20.00 each!!! In the owner manual is written that the spark plugs should be change at 30.000 Mi and the dealer said that 60.000 Mi should be fine to change them because Outlander 2007 has a MIVEC engine ?!
What about transmission fluid? Do I have to change it at 30.000 Mi or 60.000? Which is better, drain or flush? Should I go to the dealer or can I go to EZ Lube or Jiffy Lube to have it done?I don't know what ATF fluid should I use, because at dealership I have to pay $10/quart ...

your owner's manual should have a schedule in the back. depending on your dealer, they'll tell you different stuff. Usually spark plugs are good for a very long time...probably 75k miles. Rockauto.com has NGK's for 11 bucks a pop (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=7212). If you leave your spark plugs in too long, generally there shouldn't be an issue. You'll probably notice a loss of power.

Your manual will say your transmission takes a "DiaQueen ATF-J2" for the non-CVT transmissions. My dealer quoted me 6.5 per quart, and the service manual says you'll need at least 9. Do not do it at a JiffyLube or you'll void your warranty. A flush will be better, a drain will only get half of it out. My dealer quoted me $290 bucks for a flush. Since I have the service manual and feel very comfortable doing it myself, it'll only cost me around 75 bucks all said and done I'm sure. And if you do it yourself, don't forget your crush gasket for the drain plug. My dealer also told me to bring it in around 45k miles and they'd look at the fluid. I got around to it at 46k miles and they advised that it is okay for now, but should change in the next oil change or two...so that's another 5-10k miles....50-55k miles when it'll get done.

I haven't tried the sparkplugs yet on the outlander...I'm only at 47k miles (my wife sure is racking up the miles lately for interviews). since our engine sits sideways, the front spark plugs should be no problem, the rears may be more fun. if you do try it and haven't done them before, make sure you go to an autoparts store and pick yourself up a sparkplug socket. they have a rubber insert in them to help you keep from breaking them off in the engine block supposedly...which is really bad. changing out sparkplugs is relatively easy...just find them and remove them...not much special about them. Do them one at a time so you don't get your wires crossed.

I have a 2007 LS V6. I pulled a plug from the front bank of the block and had a look at what was in there. First of all, they are coil on plug meaning there is no "Spark Plug" cable, per se. There is an ignition coil on top of each plug and the control wires go to it. The coil has a screw mounting it down to the valve cover and you have to remove the screw to lift the coil and get access to each plug.

That being said, you have zero need to change your plugs. The original plugs in the engine are Lazer Iridium plugs from NGK. The exact same plug is used on my Sienna and is rated to last 120 000miles. I know of someone who has over 150 000miles on those original plugs and no running problems. Don't waste your time or money replacing them until at least 100 000+++ miles.

A lot of the maintenance manual seems to have been "cut and paste' from some old-tech manual they scrounged up from somewhere...the scheduled replacement times are for some old ford from 1980 or something.

thanks for the info TCP, I had no clue that the coils were like that. My wife's Grand Am had something similar.

took a quick snapshot of the manual for plugs/ignition coils. good information

$20 for each spark plug is crazy! I just bought all 6 NGK spark plugs for my 2004 Mitsubishi Galant and i paid a total of $40.00. I got a good deal from Javier, at qeautoparts.com. Try it out guys they have a huge selection of Mitsubishi parts in stock. I know my next purchase will be air filters, fuel filter and oil filters. Hope this helps out guys. good luck.

Default Fuel filters

When do you recommend doing a major tune up to change the fuel filters or flush out the tranmission?

I changed the air filter myself and it says to last 50K miles on it before it needs to be cleaned. The old type they don't even sell it when I went to Pepsboy.

What about radiator fluid, timing belt, brake oil? how many miles before those need to be changed?

BTW I use synthetic oil (mobilone) & change it roughly every 10K miles is that good?

For me it's better not to change the spark plugs unless it's important, you're not supposed to replace them until 100K. But if you really want to change it then it's up to you...NGK is a good brand of spark plugs.

Default 2007 Mitsubish Spark Plugs

I asked about spark plugs for my Mitsubishi Outlander and since they are the really good plugs my mechanic said it would be about $400.00 to replace them. Are they that expensive with labor? Do I need them replaced at 60,000 miles?
