Default Standard radio sound

I purchased an XLS but opted not to get the Sun and Sound package. I have not received my Outlander yet b/c the dealer is locating the one I want. What does the stereo system sound like in the Outlanders without the Rockford-Fosgate system. Do I need to start looking at an aftermarket radio and speakers to replace the factory ones.

Mine sounds great, I was intending to kit mine out with my own subwoofer once I took delivery but after I played a few CDs and played with the settings I realised I didn't need to doanything.

Its excellent unless our going for glass rattling bass. Thne you will need to add your own subs.

I had the sun & sound in my last car(Ralliart) and I sort off miss it. The sound is excellent on the standar one, but I do miss the little extra umph that the s&s had on my RA. I'm sure a nice little sub and amp will fix that verry quick. But in the end I think the stock sound system is just fine and probably will keep it stock.

It can easily sound like crap if you listen to FM. But most CDs and high fi ripped MP3s can really bring out the beauty of the RF sound. You may need to adjust the "profiles" though to get the sound to your liking. Haven't activated my Sirius tuner yet. It's pretty much sufficient enough to make the side mirrors rattle if you give it enough volume. But since I don't want to be deaf early, I always set it in moderation. Deafness from abuse of your hearing is an insidious process, you'll never know until it's too late.[&:]

On the base XLS, are the A/V jacks located behind the front armrest for mp3 player or aux inputor is that only on the models with packages, eg. Sun and Sound, Luxury, and Entertainment.

There are noa/v jacks on the base xls. I just got a base xls andI had the dealer throw in the ipod cradle and adapter since there wasn't any aux outlets. I hoping to get it installed this weekend! In regards to the sound, it soundskool but I'm probably going to yank the rockford fosgate amp and 10" subs from my other car and drop it in the outie. I don't really need the 3rd row so......unless the wife doesn't want the loud bass...the outie "is" for her...[:'(]

It's pretty good for a stock system, but not good compared to anything aftermarket. I don't see much chatter on the forum about aftermarket head units or amps. Anyone do anything yet? Crutchfield doesn't even have a wiring harness [] never mind a custom dash mount.
