Default Strange Service Reminder Reset Behavior

I did my first oil change yesterday and reset my periodic reminder per the stickied thread...

I am using the NAS10 schedule with is every 7500 miles or 6 months.

After resetting, the display shows 10,800 miles or 7 months to the next service...WTF???

Being curious, I also changed the schedule and it would display a normal looking peiod 5000, 3750. etc...then I went back to the NAS10 and it again showed 10800 or 7 months.

One thing I need to check is that the other schedules I tried were the same as those listed in the stickied thread

Am I missing something, or is something Fd' up?

Some follow up...

I went through the different schedules and compared them to the stickied thread..they are not the same

NAS11..instead of 3750/3..I get 7000/4
NAS20..instead of 5000/5...I get 5800/5
NAS21..instead of 3750/4...I get 3300/3

Other thoughts..I have an early build...October/November 06..maybe I have a really old version of software that was corrected

I reset mine at 2000 miles when I changed the oil. It said next service 9500 miles or 6 months. I changed the oil at 5000 miles and it said 12500 miles or 6 months again. I pretty much have the same build time as you. I bought mine Jan 07.

No. I don't see how that would affect the computer's behavior since there is no way it knows what brand of filter I'm using

Antilip: I can see the logicin that since it is just adding 7500 miles and saying 6 months..but mine is adding 6500 and 7 months..I might just turn it off..but it will bug me that it is wrong..

Perhaps when I get the motivation to have the dealer reflash for the throttle/transmission behavior, I'll see if it fixes it (maybe it was an early bug in the code)

FYI I my 08 Lancer's service reminder has the same "features"... I'm sure there is some sort of rhyme or reason its programmed that way... But I found it confusing and rather than figure it out for hours on end, I simply disabled it and use the Navi's service reminder function along with an excel spreadsheet

I know you can go into the options and change it on how long until the next service. I dont think 6500 miels was an option though. Other than that your car might have been set up wrong for 6500 not 7500? A computer issue?

I went through all the options on intervals...and none of them are what is listed in the sticky post after resetting it...the intervals were all correctbefore I reset it..which is what is strange

You read my post wrong the oil filter info was just an addition and nothing to do with the service reminder.

All I was trying to say is you should not fit an aftermarket oil filter on a Mitsubishi Engine. If you do you risk damaging your engine and it will not be fixed under warranty. Mitsubishi oil filters have a pressure release valve, If youfit an aftermarket filter it may expload or at worst seize the engine. Is it worth saving $5 also the valves become noisy as well
