Default Tailgate

So, I went to my friends house down the road a few days ago. He just had a baby and just bought a new Outie. The one thing (gadget for me) was the way the tail folded down. I guess that makes it a tailgate, eh, lol. I thought that to be a very nifty thing because it changed into the lowest point and it moved out and away from the body. I know, you guys are not impressed...but I sure was, lol.
Anyway, I thought I'd share how cool I thought this Outie was. I don't remember the model, but it had 3 letters in it...XLS?

All the levels of fittment have the tailgate. It will be quite useful. The problem I had with my miniban is when I would drag a heavy box over the edge it would pop the plactic cover off the "bump" at the edge of the opening. If I had the tailgate I could have just slid it out.

I love the tailgate feature - lowers the entry point for heavy lifting and stops stuff from rolling out when you open just the hatch - one of the best ideas I've seen in awhile.

This happens in my wife's minivan and on my car too.

Those two were the first things that popped in my head when he showed that to me! Lol. I know you guys have probably gotten used to having it already, but you got to admit, that was an eye popper or a brow lifter when you were first checking the Outie out.

That tailgate is 90% a baby changing table for us. Love it - fav feature on the outlander since the upgraded sound system just plain out sucks. Not clear at all and everytime I open my tailgate and see that sub - I think - man I waisted money with the stereo upgrade. I have an alero that I wish had a tailgate lol - but at least the sound system i put in it actually sounds clear and punchy at the same time - imagine that.

I love it! and so does everyone I show it to! You'll be seeing this idea show up on new generations of SUVs from other makers guaranteed!

Ok fine....I've had the tailgate open, sat on it and had a few beers. Trashy...yet very important sometimes.
