Taking a 2014 Outlander SE to OBX beach...
How stuck am I going to get? Who has what advice? I'm really concerned. We leave in two week. I know about airing out the tires and trying not to hit ruts but yeah, any suggestions please.

I've never been but my coworkers tell me that any 4x4 is fine (I live nearby). You need to take a short course to drive on the beach so presumably they will have some advice there, though I did see a pic a couple months ago of a fellow who got his Maserati stuck on the beach, that clearly had no business being there. You can park pretty close to the same spot and walk a couple hundred yards to the beach for free. We really like Coquina beach, it has change rooms, restrooms, and showers. Like I said, it's free, you can find it on google maps.

Getting Stuck
Do you have experience driving in the snow? I have always found that the best way to drive in snow or sand or a rocky sand bar is to put the car in 2nd gear and use love taps. As soon as any wheel starts to slip, you are just digging a hole. If you do a tiny bit of sinking while parked, you will have to rock the car out, which is not good for the tranny, but it works.
I am assuming you know how to use the paddles/selectors, when stopped go down to 1 and then if you raise a gear while stopped, the Outtie will go into 2nd, the gear ratio difference does help prevent spin, but you don't want to sit there and torque on it, use it briefly to get rolling and then move to 3rd, just keep the speed down and you should be fine.
Usually the idiots getting stuck are showing off. I managed a real soft beach one time in an '84 Ford LTD, so this is much easier.
Have fun
