Thule ski/board rack installed...pics
Well ski season has deffenitley arrived (even though you cant tell in my yard. Mtns got 2ft today, Denver 50 deg and sunny...) So I had to get the Outtie ready. Decided to go with the Thule 5401 Snowcat ski/board carrier. I dont need load bars for other needs. So there was no point in buying load bars, then a ski/board attachment, locks and all, whichcould run up from 200-400, depending on the setup. So for a price of $180 cant go wrong with an all-in-one ski/board carrier. There is no need for load bars, for the system is its own load bars and carrier all-in-one. This is built specially for vehicles that have side rails, and no load bars. Nice!
I'd have to say the craftsmanship ispretty goodand looks are appealing (for a ski carrier). Install took about 30min, I was taking my time though with measurments and such. But something I could now do within 15 min. Which is nice cause I only want them up from day one of hitting the slopes, to the last. Then there coming off.
Note: I was weary of the way this was attached, for things like scratching or possible damaging. But the pieces that are touching the side rails are 'ruberized' so almost like a cushion. I have no worries anymore.
They are easily adjustable with an allen wrench, for when needed with different size ski/boards. Enjoy the pics.
