Default Tires question... again

This been asked before, but things change in tire world all the time, so I wonder if anyone has good recommendation on upgrading from stock tires. What's the best tires to get XLS? Is it ok to go with 235 instead of original 225?

Does your XLS have the 16 or 18 inch rims? When the factory 16 inch tires go on my ES I plan on replacing them with BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A's. Both Discount and Tirerack have very good reviews on them.

I have 215 tires now and plan on going with 225 tires which will add 3/10 of an inch to the tread width. Check with your tire dealer to see if 235 tires would fit.

18" 225/55/18.

So I read through tirerack.com and ever single tire has negatives which makes it difficult to pick the best one. If price wasn't a factor what would you pick for best All season tire with long thread life and low noise on the road? I live in NW where it rains most of the time.

I am considering Goodyear Tripletread

or Michelin - Latitude® Tour

Choices, choices, choices!

These seem to have the excellent rating

just replaced my OEM tires last Nov. I went with 235/55/18 size. I was suppose to get Yokohama Parada but it was on back order and Discount Tire recommended the Bridgestone Dueler and Yokohama Avid V4S... I decided to get the Yokohama V4S (it comes with 60,000 miles warranty)... so far after 2k miles of driving with these tires there has been no problems and the ride is more quite than the OEM Goodyears...

Went to Sears and they recommended Goodyear ComfortTread Assurance as far as premium tire brands. I am considering to order through tirerack.

The Goodyear ComfortTread are very highly rated, and a top pick of Consumer Reports.

As far as customer reviews on Discount tire and Tirerack websites, almost any tire is going to have a few people who aren't happy, but the reason I'm leaning towards the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A is the big majority of reviews rated them high.

BF looks good too, but I can't find in size 18.

I drive a 2007 XLS with 18". I had changed my tires back in July 2009 from Goodyear OEM eagle to Goodyear ComfortTread Assurance. Great tires. Very good ride. It is more than six months driving in hot summer, rain, and now winter snow. Good value for the money and much much better than the OEM Goodyear Eagle tires

I bought the ComforTread Assurance and am VERY happy with them... Had them for the last 6 months and no negatives so far. Excellent wet and try traction and MUCH quieter than the OEM tires (which only lasted just over 20K miles, btw).
