Default Transmission kicks hard when changing gears

Hello,
My father owns a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander that is not driven much during the year. It barely has 40000 KM on the odo.

Recently I noticed that when the transmission changes gears, it feels like a hard kick. It does not make any abnormal noises or over reving. It just feels like a hard kick.

It could be related the AWD system. I'm not sure.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is it in ever gear or just specific ones?

Have you ever changed the tranny fluid and or had a flush done?

Thanks for the reply.

I might've been mistaken in the details provided earlier.

When the car is on the move and I remove my foot of the gas pedal and back again, at that point the kick occurs. The kick is felt regardless if there were a gear change or not. Again, the transmission does not make any abnormal noises or over reving.

Regarding the tranny fluid, the car is taken into the dealership for maintainance so I'm assuming the dealership has changed the tranny fluid at the appropriate interval but I can't be sure.

This maybe a late update but, after inspection by the dealership, they found the rear deferential mounts/bushings were worn. Once replaced, the car was perfect.

thanks for the update. For a long time, I get a very rough buck when decelerating and then getting on the gas. Only on 4wd auto mode. Issue disappears in 2wd and in and lock. Will have to check mine out!
