Default Trunk opens, but closes by itself

Hi all,My 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander 3.0L trunk opens when I press the lift gate button on the smart key, but it automatically closes by itself. I posted this on reddit with a video, but wanted to get insight from the Mitsubishi form (link to video --> https://www.reddit.com/r/Autobody/co...es_right_away/)

When I open it manually by hand, I have to physically hold it up.

Do I have to replace the trunk gas strut lift support?

Yes, this is quite typical. I replaced the struts on my 2014 last winter. You will probably find that one is completely toast and the other still provides some lift. Though no enough. There's an affordable source for these replacements online. take a look around, but you don't have to spend on the Mits parts.

Just wanted to give you an update. It was the struts. If anyone is experiencing the same problem (ie see video on the reddit link), its your struts. Purchased new ones on amazon and replaced them myself (very simple fix, just youtube it!) and saved me hundreds of dollars if I took it in to a Mitsubishi dealer.
