Default Turbo 2011 outlander xls

Just wondering if anyone has turbo'd a 2011 outlander xls. Andysautosport.com offers a tomioka turbo kit for 03 and up but I want to know if anyone's actually done it?

the devil is in the details. that turbo is for the 4B11 engine. Your XLS has the 6B31 engine, which started service in the Outlander in 2007.

2003 Outlander had stock turbo version called Airtrek Turbo.

Google Evolander - that's the only known V6 Outlander with turbo.

Yet another argument why you won't be able to do it is 2010+ 6B31's have 10.5 compression ratio, unlike 9.5 pre-2010 ones.

Why do you need more power BTW?

Question Turbo on the 2010 4 Cylinder SE AWD model

I'm considering putting the same exact turbo kit from Andy's on my 2010 SE AWD model with the 2.4L 4 cylinder. Anyone know if it's more feasible to do it on the 4 cylinder vs. the 6 cylinder?? Does the CVT present an issue at all??

lol the CVT not only presents an issue, the CVT often times IS an issue, all on its own.

In reality, the CVT was not by any means designed for high power applications. They are designed for efficiency and comfort. To be specific, horsepower is not the issue. A CVT transmission can handle ample amounts of HP, but the killer is torque. The steel belt inside cannot handle much torque at all. The CVT in the Outlander Sport is the Jatco JF011E and according to Jatco's website, it's the same for your full size Outlander: CVT for medium FWD vehicles | JATCO Ltd

Jatco for some reason changed their website I am now seeing, and a lot, a LOT, of info is not on there any more. From some searching, though, I see found that the JF011E is rated for "Up to a 2.5L engine." Now, this means you're already at the top end of the recommended scale with your 2.4L... So really, I would not suggest that you modify your vehicle at all... and especially not with a high HP/ high TQ project like a turbocharger...

If you REALLY want to look into it more, contact the guys at Road Race Motorsports ( Road Race Motorsports ) and talk with them. They have kits for turbocharging Lancers and Outlander Sport's with the CVT's. Obviously, it's a smaller motor, but you could at least get an idea of what type of HP/TQ the CVT can safely handle. Don't forget to factor in the weight difference.

Here's a cool look at a cut-open CVT. The JF011E is the same CVT used in the Jeep Compass and Dodge Caliber: The Jatco CVT used in the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Patriot, and Jeep Compass
