Default Two questions. . .

I live in Mexico and have the model XLS with sunroof. I have two questions:

1. There is mentioned that the switch of keys is "Illuminated ignition switch", my manual of the owner mentions this characteristic but the switch is off. I was with Mitsubishi and they say to me that it is not true. Can someone confirm this? Can someoneupload any picture?

2. I want to put the RES (rear enterteiment seat), but my doubt is if the sunroof is100% operable,if I can open it. Someone who has the RES/sunroof and could say to me?

Thank you in advance an I`m sorry my English.

US XLS here. The ignition switch is illuminated when headlights are on, and for RES, the installation kit comes in two variants, with sunroof and without sunroof.

1) The "illuminated ignition switch" is only for models that do not have FAST key. So this feature is only available on standard key models.

2) The RES (rear entertainment system) can be installed on ANY model regardless of packages. In the US you can order the right parts.

Not totally true about the RES and all cars being able to fit it.

When I took delivery of my 1st Outie last year, I bought it with the RES and mounting kit. When the roof lining came out there was nothing to fix it to and NO wiring either.

They have now supplied me with a replacement vehicle with the RES factory fitted to my Rockford front head unit.

From jsrd's diagrams, you should be able to fit the OEM RES on all 2nd gen Outlanders, with and w/o Sunroof. The base looks like a plastic "ring" that you fit into the cut out hole in the headliner. From the literatures, all Outlanders should be prewired for the RES. Strange that your first Outlander didn't come prewired. I guess you could have "manually" wired it if you have the diagrams. BTW, what happened to it? (just curious).

I drove it for about 15,000km until the replacement unit came from Japan and they did a straight swop! The last thing you need with a new release is bad publicity. For reference, the ASC was also missing on the unit.

They took it back as a staff demo unit.

Nope, ALL 2nd Gen Outties come prewired for the RES. Meaning all models regardless of trim can have the RES installed. Yes, it looks like there was a mistake with yours though...I'm not surprised they switched yours out so easily even after you put on 15,000km. Looks like a mistake which they fixed, and you got 15,000km for free!

Edit: heres a pic:

The previous image shows the hole realized to the headlining; it is necessary to remove the central lamp to be able to pull the headlining softly and to install the bracket. . .
