Default Underdrive Pulley

Hey all- I installed my underdrive pulley and it was quite simple. It takes about an hour and no special skills. Dealer won't notice it'e there to try and void my warranty either It seems to rev a little quicker than before, it's certainly lighter than the stock also. States 7 HP and 9 TQ gain, but with my AWD, I don't expect a kick in the pants difference, hell it's only a few HP anyway. The moral of the story is it's a relatively quick, easy and discreet mod that isn't expensive.

yeah, definately worth the little bit of work, I had a little more time to play around with it... definately a better response and RPM climb.

here too, be interested to know cost, also you should be able to see a bump up in mpg. Gotta say I'm very happy with my new outlander but it likes the petrol! [:@]

I didn't take any pics, my batteries in the digital camera were shot. But the install was pretty easy with the instructions- which are posted on the website, they do not come in the package- print them out yourself. The cost was $129. Lucky for me I didn't wait for shipping, just drove 10 minutes from my house and picked it up! If you buy one and have install questions, you can pm me and I can help you out. As far as MPG it isn't clear yet, have not gone through a tank yet, but I haven't decreased by any means. Other people have said they had small increases in MPG. Keep us posted!

am also interested in this mod, but just as many people think it's good as think it a waste, but i would reason that for a lower horsepower engine, such a pulley might reduce the effects of parasitic power loss by the belt-driven accessories, especially the air conditioner compressor. but hey, what do i know?

have you found the pulley to be a worthwhile investment?

the engine seemed to rev a little faster and it seems my fuel economy increased a bit. Coincidence? Maybe. But I have gotten as high as 21MPG, with an average of 19-20... before I averaged 18 and I drive the same if not harder now. I think as the mods progress, they will piggyback on each other- so for the $130 I'd buy it again. I saved the old setup in the event I need the engine serviced, I'll just put the old one back on and avoid any potential problems with Mitsu, but unless you're looking for it, you won't notice it's there.

i think i'll do the pulley as well. i saw the sight you mentioned w/ the installation instructions; looks pretty staightforward and not too difficult, though it's been years since i did anything more involved than one of those cone intakes and oil changes, and a long way from tune-ups w/out a lap-top....
