well people from what it looks like my new t3/t4 ball bearing turbo kit for the srt-4 will be in the car in about 2 months giving me 500 whp plus n20.. now the question came up what to do with my stock turbo set up. after some examination the turbo will fit the outlander with some modifications to the manifold, i will keep you guys posted on that project and info on how the install will be and what we are doing for fuel........</P>

I'm quite interested in sticking a low-pressure turbo onto the Outlander. The engine is perfect for turbocharging - 2.4 with industrial background and LOW (9:1) compression. However I'm not very sure if the INVECS II automatic transmission will work with this. Perhaps it will have to be re-programmed to know the new torque profile of the engine with the turbocharger on. Has anybody researched these transmissions? I supposethey will bestrong enough to handle the extra torque, but what about interoperability?

 

The INVECS II transmission is kind of a "learning" transmission. The TCU examines various inputs such as throttle position, RPM's, Speed, and then makes the best situation for it to operate. But i'd think that when you pair it up to an engine that it wasn't meant for(ie just turbocharging the 4g64), you'd need it reprogrammed. As for the strength, the transmissions aren't super strong. They aren't like the DSM versions at all. IMO, i wouldn't try to put them over 300hp crank. Since you wanted a low boost setup(boost is addictive, you'll quickly change your mind about what boost level you want to run<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">) upgrading the transmission isn't really a priority. Perhaps an upgraded torque converter and Cryo treating the gears would help it better sustain the rigors of turbocharging. Ray00, You're EVO vs. SRT-4 video is rather popular. I went to another forum and saw some guy saying it was his SRT-4, I called BS on him since he didn't know anything about the car. Back to the turbo. i think that the stock tranny will do well for now. im just going to finally enjoy the autostick feature more!!!!!. all the parts for my turbo kit should be in in about 2 weeks. i had a financial situation last couple months so everyhting had to be put to a hold. after the srt-4 is completed then i will begin the outlander project. the wife is really getting antsy.</P>
