hi all this is my first post . I am about to buy a 2009 outlander with the vw 2.0 di-d 140 bhp engine I know these engines have suffered some serious problems in the audi a4 a6 and vw Passat regarding the oil pump drive . I was wondering if this engine in the outlander as any similar issues . the vehicle I am interested in as covered 73000 miles as full service history but this issue scares me to death . can anyone shed any light on this . many thanks in advance

 

Is this really a VW engine or Mitsu took WV 2.0 TDI as the base for their 2.0 DI-D design?

 

hi not sure that's what I am trying to find out . I have searched hundreds of web sites trying to find out with no luck . having said that the fact I can not find any problems with the outlander tells me they do not suffer the same issues as the vw audi cars

 

2.0 litres diesel is a VW unit
2.2 litres diesel is a Peugeot unit

hi yes I am aware of that . it is the 2.0di-d that I am asking about there have been major issues in the uk with oil pump failure on this engine which completely destroys the engine within seconds . all front to back applications audi a4 a6 and vw Passat from what I can make out this issue does not seem to affect transverse mounted engines like in the a3 vw golf and so on
